About the Corn Snake
Corn snakes are North American rat snakes, reaching 1.2–1.8m, rarely defensive and easy to handle. Husbandry is straightforward: a secure vivarium with a thermal gradient, hides at both ends, fresh water and a weekly defrosted rodent. Escapes are the classic beginner failure — corn snakes are expert at finding gaps, so locks and a well-fitting lid matter.
Living with a Corn Snake
Secure, escape-proof vivarium at least as long as the snake, kept alone. Warm end 28–30°C, cool end 20–24°C, hides at both ends.
