Terms of use

By using PetHome.co.uk ("PetHome", "we") you agree to these terms. The short version: advertise honestly, follow UK animal welfare law, and treat other users the way you'd want your pet treated.

1. The service

PetHome is an advertising platform. We are not party to any sale, adoption or stud arrangement made between users, we do not own the animals advertised, and we do not handle payments between users.

2. Advertising rules

All adverts must comply with the Pet Advertising Advisory Group (PAAG) standards and applicable UK law, including:

  • recent, genuine photographs of the animal advertised;
  • the animal's age stated, and no puppy or kitten sold under 8 weeks;
  • puppies and kittens photographed and viewable with their mother;
  • dogs and cats declared microchipped where the law requires it;
  • licensed breeders displaying their licence number and issuing local authority;
  • compliance with Lucy's Law — no commercial third-party sales of puppies or kittens.

3. Prohibited listings

  • banned breeds and prohibited species, including dangerous wild animals;
  • animals under the legal minimum age, or pregnant animals;
  • illegally docked or cropped dogs;
  • animals offered as swaps for goods, services or other animals;
  • live animals as feed, farmed animal sales, and postal or courier delivery of animals;
  • working, guarding or hunting animals advertised as pets.

4. Accounts and conduct

You are responsible for the accuracy of your adverts and your conduct towards other users. We may edit, reject or remove any advert, and suspend or permanently ban any user, at our discretion — including a permanent ban after repeated attempts to place illegal adverts.

5. Liability

We work hard to keep bad actors out but cannot guarantee any advert or user. Always follow our safety guidance before parting with money. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PetHome is not liable for losses arising from transactions between users.

6. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be highlighted on this page. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
